Episode: Premiere
OK, nice opening with Bethenny explaining that the Housewives is only a small part of her life. The first scene is at Fashion Week where they wore red dresses for charity. Bethenny wiggles and struts down the runway making everyone laugh. I love that she doesn't take herself too seriously. Jason comes backstage and says she looks gorgeous, and she does. He's beaming at her - awww!
Now we're at the new Soho department. Jason's got bedhead and Bethenny is eating frosting for breakfast. She's planning to interview assistants today and he doesn't want her hiring any young straight guys. She laughs at him, and they chat about him needing a desk. They have a point where Bethenny is going into the office, Jason goes a different way, and they see which one Cookie, her little dog, will follow. The poor dog doesn't know what to do. I'd say it's a tie.
Now we see Bethenny's office. It's huge and white and says Skinny Girl on the walls. The nude poster Betheny did for PETA is right behind her head. If I looked that good naked I'd never wear clothes and I'd have my picture on the wall, too. We meet Julie, her assistant, and they're going to interview interns. The first guy comes in and she calls him Napoleon Dynamite. He turns her on to a new falafel place and a secret bar within a restaurant and she loves him, even if he's not right for the job. She sees a few more people and she picks a young straight guy named Max who seems like he's a self-starter and best of all, Cookie liked him. Cookie snaps at a girl who comes in to interview as she's giving Bethenny tips about using Jason's clothes to save money while she's pregnant, so Cookie's approval might save her a lawsuit. Jason comes in and he's concerned about a 24 year old straight guy having the job because Bethenny is often in various states of undress. She says she needs to work on that, so it look like Max is in.
There's a vignette of Bethenny having lunch with a friend who tells her that when her milk comes in she'll have to put cabbage on her breasts because they become hard and engorged. Bethenny says nobody ever tells you about this stuff.
Bethenny and Jason are out for dinner and she's hungry. They talk about planning a wedding and tells him she'd like to get married before the baby comes. They can't decide on the size of the wedding - Jason wants more people than she wants. Now she announces that she's going to a shrink. In a talking head segment, she explains that Jason is from a normal family from a small town and she was raised in a cave by wolves - or, more accurately, at the race track, betting and drinking at age 7 with very little proper parenting so she wants to handle this relationship better than she has her previous 7 month marriage and 3 other engagements. She seems very sincere in wanting to make this work as she tells the doctor about her family. The doctor affirms that she has good reason to fear relationships. I like the doctor.
Next we're in the office on Max's first day and Jason all but pisses on the furniture marking his territory. He jokes about it, but it's obvious he's a little apprehensive and it's really cute. Max does his best to be non-threatening and they talk a little football since Jason knows he played in college.
Jason tells her that he's going to Florida and she's worried that they're having a house warming party. They are very different, socially, and it's going to take some adjustment to mesh these two lifestyles. He's more gregarious, she's a loner. She never reallly had a choice in that, so I hope he can give her time to adapt.
Now they're picking out wedding bands at Christian Farrell (I hope I got that right.) Jason's is a little more ornate than I expected, but in a masculine way, and Bethenny's is a band of bright diamonds that will go around her big honkin' diamond.
Jason is stranded in Florida because of the weather, so Bethenny has to entertain his friends without him. She's out of her element because Jason's friends are more down to earth than most of the people she dealss with. She tries her best, though, but she doesn't really know these people. Alex and Simon show up. They warn her to get her book done before the baby comes because after she won't be able to think. Jason is on speaker phone talking to everyone and B. asks him how the hookers are in Orlando. He tells them all to have fun and that's the end.
Next week, we meet the wedding planner, who looks like he's a bit afraid of her.
So far, I'm loving this show.

Yeppers, I'm going to love this show. It's so light and easy to watch after all the drama and trauma we've been through with the RHWNY. It was like a breath of clean air after being trapped in an elevator. It's a nice happy little reality show and obviously it's about someone we already like. 2 thumbs up!
